Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly will you be able to be involved?

It depends on the type of work; for consultations I will likely be able to be involved sooner than individual casework involving direct assessment. For individual casework I may be arranging for work to start in 3-4 months’ time, but this will vary and can be discussed during an initial (free) phone call, or via e-mail.

Do you do tribunal work?

I am not currently contributing to tribunals

Where can I check your registration?

On the HCPC website: www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/

Will you visit children/young people at home?

Yes, I can carry out home visits. This may be needed if a young person is not currently attending a setting (or not attending regularly), for example due to high levels of anxiety. Sometimes young people may be more comfortable engaging with me in their home setting.

Will you speak to school staff when parents have commissioned the work and vice versa?

I believe that change is mostly likely to be successfully enabled when the key people involved in the young person’s education (usually parents and setting staff) are able to work closely together to reflect and problem-solve. So in most situations I would encourage both parents and setting staff to be involved in consultation and assessment processes. Parent/carer consent is needed for me to have communication with setting staff/other professionals, so this will be discussed prior to work being planned and agreed.
